Founding Groups (Summer 2020)

In addition to our two facilitators from the Pomegranate Center, Michaela Ayers and Milenko Matanovic, the ERR project began with three groups: the Advisory Committee, the Steering Committee, and the Working Group.

Advisory Committee

This group’s role will be to lay the groundwork for the process, building a clear foundation upon which all later steps will build. This group is not responsible for decision making which will be the responsibility of the community.

Steering Committee

This group’s role will be to build upon the work of the Advisory Committee, and like that group, this group is not responsible for decision making which will be the responsibility of the community. They will be invited, along with everyone else, to offer ideas at community forums.

Members of the steering committee are individuals who have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively, who have a track record for getting things done, and who are curious and open to different perspectives. The group will be diverse in ages, balanced by genders, and will have representation from a range of income levels and from Spanish-speaking households. The goal is to have the committee comprised of full-time residents, part-time residents, non-profit organizations, businesses, faith-based organizations, and government; and to have representation from people who work in housing, food, mental health, hospitality, the arts, energy, and education.

Working Group

This group’s role will be to assist with community engagement, ensuring that all community members have a chance to offer thoughtful ideas and responsible choices. Members of this group serve as ambassadors for the project. Like the other two groups, this group is not responsible for decision making which will be the responsibility of the community. They will be invited, along with everyone else, to offer ideas at community forums.
